Let’s Talk Grief
2022
"Let’s Talk Grief" is more than a game—it's a gentle nudge toward meaningful conversations about a topic often left unspoken. Designed as a card game, it provides a safe and structured way for you and your loved ones to navigate the complexities of grief together. Through thought-provoking questions and evocative images, the game fosters emotional expression, storytelling, and collective healing. It transforms the process of grieving into a shared experience, encouraging connection, understanding, and empathy.
-
Players: 2–4
Goal: To create a safe space for conversations about grief, using questions and imagery as tools to articulate feelings and experiences.
-
Lay out all the Image Cards face up on a flat surface so everyone can see them.
Shuffle the Question Cards and place them in a facedown stack.
-
The youngest player begins. Play proceeds anticlockwise.
Each turn, a player picks a Question Card from the deck, reads it aloud, and shares their response using 2–3 Image Cards to express their emotions or experiences.
Note: Image Cards can be reused by different players.
The game ends when all Question Cards have been answered.
-
Grief often resides in silence, but "Let’s Talk Grief" embraces that silence as part of the process.
A vision when you cry: The imagery offers abstract representations of emotions, inviting players to interpret and connect them with their feelings.
Playing with silence: Silence is not just a pause—it’s space for reflection, shared understanding, and holding emotions without words.
Blurring the edges: Just as grief is not linear, the visuals and prompts encourage open-ended exploration, leaving space for ambiguity and personal meaning.
-
The visual identity of "Let’s Talk Grief" is designed to reflect the nuances of emotion and memory:
Color Palette: Muted tones such as soft grays, blues, and warm neutrals symbolize calm, reflection, and subtle hope.
Typography: A minimal sans-serif typeface communicates clarity, while handwritten accents evoke a personal touch.
Card Design:
Image Cards: Abstract, evocative visuals—soft textures, blurred lines, and organic shapes—that invite personal interpretation.
Question Cards: Clean and uncluttered, with open-ended prompts that encourage deep thinking and sharing.
Packaging: Simple yet comforting—a matte-finish box with subtle embossing, inviting players to approach it with care.
